Direct yet conceptual. Leader and a team player. Design & UX for brands, and people.
Real beauty is not just design, but also the relationship that it establishes with each person that it interacts with. As a Marine veteran, I wondered my way into the world of interaction design. A field that I felt was best suited for those with a background in design and research. However, I learned that interaction design is more than just creating wireframes, mockups and asking questions. Interaction Design is creating positive experiences between users and the people and products they interact with on a day to day basis. It has the power to influence people’s actions to achieve their goals, and it always requires you to re-define who they are. I believe that in the design field we all share the same values and have an underlying culture. We value design for its diversity and unspoken forms of communication.
Design can inspire, teach, and influence the masses or one person at a time, but I especially like interaction design for its influence in its users from beginning to end. It is present nearly everywhere: on your watch, phone, computer and all around you. Interaction design is always different for every project, but the experience can become a universal desire. I learned graphic design by attending Santa Monica College and have been admitted into its first Baccalaureate in interaction design. This has given me a great experience as an emerging UX designer. I have gained an understanding of all the principles in creating successful products. I learned to design and research for interaction design projects such as qualitative and quantitive research, design research, prototyping, user testing, etc., and I know how to use every component that is part of designing such as the Adobe Suite or more practical tools such as sketch drawing.
My inspiration comes from my experience in witnessing the evolution of the human-computer interaction in the early ’90s. I got to experience the principles and techniques that evolved over time that came to give birth to interaction design. Technology has rapidly weaved into our daily lives, which has allowed us to achieve greater feats in humanity. However, my goal is to create not just successful products with people but to help them become part of a global community that shares values and an underlying culture that brings together technology and sustainability for a brighter and greener future.
